What a great day it was with all of you! Congratulations for making it half way through!
As you all know from the hand out I gave you in class, you were asked to blog about your reactions to this week's main topic on population. I am posting the assignment below for those of you who may have been absent.
Looking back on the video and various readings on population react to the topic on your blog. Use these questions to help you. Remember to comment on at least two of your classmates' reactions.
- Are you optimistic or pessimistic about the future in terms of population?
- What do you think should be done in the industrial world in terms of population? What should be done in the emerging nations?
Happy Blogging Everyone!

I think I can't be optimistic about the future in term of population. Of course if we look at generally the world's population, it really increase slowly in recent decades. However, it's unbalance between many different countries and it's really a serious problem that society have to deal with. In some developed countries in Europe and Japan, America which have the good condition to take the children but their birth rates are minus. On the other hand, in many countries in Africa and Asia, the population continue increasing so that the governments can't control with the increase of the demand of land to live and the improve of life condition.
ReplyDeleteI think I am a little of both about the future in term of population. Increasing population in some countries are good for them, on the other hand some countries are not good for them. For example, Saudi Arabia needs more population to improve the economic; however, in China there are more than they need of people so they have to put limit of increasing population.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion is that all the developed countries have to put limit for the birthrate in each family. For example, in China each family has I child. However, as I said Saudi Arabia has to increasing the birthrate
Hi everyone,
ReplyDeleteThe most important thing to resolve any problem is recognize the consequences of it. Therefore, I am really optimistic that people will find solutions to control the population growth whether in industrial nation or emerging nations.
However, we have to be more careful and give more concern about next generations. If population growth still continues that means we suffer from lack of food, water, space for people. Governments have to play their roles to avoid this problem. Also, public awareness of how serious this problem will help as well. Balancing the number of people in all the worlds’ parts is the most important thing should be done. For example, industrial nations should allow people from other poor countries to immigrate. In emerging nations, the birth rate has to be at or below 4 children per woman.
I am pessimic about the future in terms of population. Nowadays, world faces tow main problems about the population. First one is the population lacks of balance. In some place, such as Japan, the population is not enough. In other word, the population will become more older,so it will becaom a risk for getting the new generation. Second one is the more worse than the first one, which is the population is too huge, even go over the limit in some place. In that area, the density of population is too high, and the sources will run out in short time, those include water, land, wood, and so on. In addition, it will make the concentration of carbon dioxide higher, so the global warming will be worse. In the other hand, some people will say, we have already had some soultion to deal with these problem, such as the limite of the birthrate. However, the the base number of the population is too big. Furthermore, the technonlgy improves too mnch, so the new born babies have high probability to saty a lives, the old man will live longer. Totally, we face too many hampers, so I am pessimistic about people can deal the population problems in the few years.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, though it is very hard the deal the problems, we still have to do some to try to success. First, in the industrial world, the most improtant thing is the limite the birthrate. The baby boom is the biggest problem is the industrial would, so we have to deal the problem on the original. Making a policy, such as the singel child policy, to control the number maybe is useful in today situation.
Well, I think I have no idea about the population because I could not find the goods answer for myself too.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I think environment, economic, society, and natural are the factor of the population growth.
Hi pham how are you?
ReplyDeletewell, I agree with you about the balance between the countries. Exactly, there are no balance between them. This is the real problem.
thank you and good luck.
see you.
So..how are you?

Hello everyone,
ReplyDeleteTo be honest with you people I am 98% pessimistic and only 2% optemistic, even if we are in the hell we should keep some faith in our hearts that may take us to paradise ;)
Anyways, the wolrd current total popualtion is estimated 6.7 BILLION. estimates of future world population have it reaching near or above 9 BILLION by 2050. these are really SHOCKING statestics that researchers showed to make us realize the dangeroud and how this problem is serious.
Well, every problem has its reason or the causes of it. The reason of this issue is IMBALANCED WORLD POPULATIOn in other terms, some countries in the region fertility rates above 3.0 children per woman( WOW. another shocking fact) including India, Nepal, and Pakistan. However, some countries in the region have already seen ferility drop below 2.1, including China, Thailand, Singapore, and Sri lanka. Those countries did a great job to keep their population under control which promises with better opportunities and benefits of success.
So at the end, as I mentioned before I'm only 2% optemistic, why? because despite a slowing population growth some countries like Japan facing population ageing but we should keep a small hope and expect the regioun's population to start shrinking.
the bottom of the line is no matter what we do ( that's my opinion of course) the situation will keep growing bigger and bigger..
Thank you,
^_^
I prefer to be pessimistic than optimistic. There are some resons make the population have some problem to the world. The world is the big global that we live together, so it seems the problem belong to us. We can more people more demanding, so we need the resorce to roduce them. Anyway, today there are more emplyees than jobs. Therefore, there is lack of finacial in some countries because of many people, but they do not have any jobs.Population growing faster is hard for humans to fix it.
ReplyDeletepham i agree with your opinion because the future is really important.
ReplyDeleteI think it is hard to be optimistic toward the increasing in the world's population. growing population leads to several environmental issues as well as social problems. In developed countries we can attribute the population rises to better medical care, thus a longer lifespan and fewer deaths. As a result of this overpopulation we experience social issues such as increased rates of poverty, crime, disease, and environmental problems such as increased global warming, natural disasters, loss of habitat, pollution, and more
ReplyDeleteEven though swelling population looks so serious, I am in optimistic view because the problem of population shortage overweight swelling population. For example, in korea, population density is very high but shortage of people who can do economic activity causes more serious problem such as welfare policy for seniors, decreasing tex. I want to ask you who can have a responsibility about that kind of problems without people.
ReplyDeleteguys you know why i am a BIG pessimistic?
ReplyDeletebecaus I consider myself one of those people who loves to have kids..for me i would love to have from 4 and above kids..lets say probably:4-7
